The Soleras of Valdespino Very Old Rare Sherries (or VORS) were established towards the end of the 19th Century. Each individually registered bottle of the Valdespino V.O.R.S. Collection represents over 100 years of careful selection by generations of expert oenologists. The result is a Sherry unique in character, intensity and complexity.

Average Age: Over 30 years

Tasting Notes: Mahogany with orange and green tones. The flor can be appreciated by its fragrant and nutty intensity. Light and salty at the beginning becoming sharp, bone dry and very complex with a nice touch of saltiness. Very long with bitter and balsamic hints of almost infinite persistence.

Valdespino 'Coliseo' Amontillado VORS featured in The World of Fine Wine
"Mid-deep amber, with an olive green rim; pungent and aromatic, with power and almost balsamic concentration evident on the nose; similarly powerful on the palate, a black hole of concentration and intensity suggesting that this is a very old wine, slight casky/rancio character on the finish adds to the overall complexity. This leaves me with a sense of wonder (and respect)..."

The NV Amontillado Coliseo VORS, is an extremely old (much older than the 30 years certified by the VORS classification) and concentrated wine. It is unique, as its origin is from Sanlucar de Barrameda, mainly from the Pago Miraflores, which produced very sharp wines. Dark mahogany colored, with a bright green border, is very aromatic, balsamic and complex, with wild herbs, candied orange rind, spices and dates. The palate is extremely concentrated, dry, and intense but it has no edges, with lively acidity and an eternal finish. It’s an extreme wine, some might find it too much, but it’s certainly unique and among the greatest wines in the world, to be sipped slowly and in tiny quantities. One of the greatest Amontillados in existence today. Drink 2013-2025.
