Terroir: Made from the best parts of the old vineyards where opoka prevails. Opoka is the name of a very special soil in the Goriška Brda hills, enriched with salts of marl minerals. Under the influence of temperature, rain, wind and sun the soil decays easily. The result was a precious well-draining area perfect for vine cultivation.
Winemaking Notes: Fermented in contact with skins for 48 hours. Maturation for 22 months in 500 liter oak barrels. The wines are note filtered, merely decanted before bottling with minimum use of sulphur and refined in bottle for at least six months. Opoka wines are produced only in the exceptional vintages.
Tasting Notes: Yellow color with a cast of gold. The nose displays its nobility, and palate is delicate and reminiscent of peach, ripe pear, grapefruit, pepper, tomato leaves and basil. Pair this sophisticated wine with white meet, fresh goat cheese and vegetable dishes.
