About the Grape Kerner: The grape Kerner is a hybrid of Schiava and Riesling; it was first cultivated at the viticulture school of Weinsberg, Germany in 1930. The vines thrive on the light, gravelly and sandy soils of the Isarco River Valley. The local and highly beneficial microclimate is formed by steep slopes, a lot of sunshine, and cool temperatures at night. "As far as Kerner is concerned, there simply isn’t anyone making better and similarly large volumes of Kerner wines than Alto Adige right now – it helps that Alto Adige’s Kerner wines are never flat, cloying or bubble-gummy, as wines made with this crossing often are." - Ian d'Agata Vinous 2/19/2020

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are gently pressed at the winery. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats to keep the wine fresh and crisp.

Tasting Notes: In the glass, this is a straw yellow wine with green reflections. Bolzano Kerner has an intensely aromatic nose, with notes of peach, apricot and mandarin. Pure mineral-rich Kerner shines on the palate; it is brilliantly juicy with crisp acidity.

Pairing Notes: Pair this Kerner with light appetizers, cold cuts, mushroom dishes, freshwater fish, steamed seafood or as an aperitif.
