Harvest Notes: Seeking extreme ripeness, the harvest is done entirely by hand and proceeds in successive passes over a series of weeks in October. The Semillon comes from 16 hectares of south-facing vines in Sainte-Croix-du-Mont.

Winemaking Notes: The Semillon grapes are sorted by hand. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeast in concrete tanks. The wine is racked off its lees after fermentation. It ages in 50% tank and 50% 225-liter barrels (30% new). Following an 18-24 month elevage, the wine is bottled unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: This dessert wine is frequently blessed with significant levels of botrytis and exhibits a high level of concentration and complexity. At their finest, the wines of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont can rival the wines of Sauternes and Barsac, directly across the Garonne—in La Rame’s case, directly across the river from one Château d’Yquem.
