2019 Vintage Notes: The 2019 vintage was classic, Mediterranean, and fresh. Raventós had a late harvest, but at the same time extraordinarily healthy and tasty. It was a year marked by classic Mediterranean weather with a wet autumn, cool spring with occasional rains, and a dry and warm summer. In short, an excellent vintage with a longer cycle and slow ripening: ideal conditions for great wines.
Viticulture Notes: While this is certified organic, the Raventós go a bit further and practice biodynamic farming to create a balanced ecosystem. Vineyards have spontaneous plant covers, which gives biodiversity, fertility, and life to the soil. Manure from their animals is composted in winter. They use plant infusions as phytotherapy to minimize the use of copper and sulfur. They control Lobesia Botrana (grapevine moth) via sexual confusion.
Vinification Notes: Grapes are manually harvested with strict selection. They enter into the cellar by gravity. The grapes are slowly pressed at a low temperature. Static racking occurs at low temperatures. First fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeast in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, separating varieties and soil types. The wines are blended and bottled for secondary fermentation. Raventós Blanc de Blancs ages for a minimum of 18 months in the bottle. The expedition liquor is the base wine of Blanc de Blancs 2020 with organic sugar. Disgorgement date is indicated on the back label.
