Hank Notes: "Hailing from the Cedarville Vineyard, on decomposed granite, this wine is deeper, darker, more cerebral than its cousin, Franc. I’ve always had a secret affection for the Cabs of El Dorado. The wines are typically quite expressive even young, and they have a easy-goingness about them. Take away the all-too-pervasive use of new oak, and we have a lovely grape making wines which accurately reflect the local terroir. What more can we ask for?"
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were whole cluster fermented and gently foot crushed, Only free run juice was used for this bottling.
Tasting Notes: Complex aromas include vanilla, earth, herbs and cranberries. The wine has a medium body, with tart cherry flavors giving way to a delightful balance of tannin and acidity. No crushing oak tannins to be found…
Aging Potential: This is a drink-me-now sort of wine, which we like, though we suspect it will be a drink-me-now sort of wine in 5 years, too.
