The first vintage of Noblesse Brut Metodo Classico was created in 2002. It was the very first and still extremely rare sparkling wine made from Carricante, the noble indigenous white grape of the Etna volcano. Noblesse is dry, fine, and delicate, and is only produced in very small quantities.

Vineyard Notes: Noblesse is produced from a selection of Carricante grapes from vineyards on the eastern and southern slopes of Mount Etna. It is a mountain climate: humid, rainy and at times snowy in winter, with very high ventilation, luminosity and diurnal range. The vines range between 20 and 60 years old.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are manually harvested and softly pressed without any destemming. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C. The wine is left to mature on its lees until late spring, when it is bottled with selected yeasts to induce the second fermentation. The disgorgement and dosage occur after 24 months. The wine then rests for at least three months.

Tasting Notes: The wine is pale straw yellow with bright greenish tints and it has numerous, fine, and persistent bubbles. Intense on the nose, with delicate scents of orange, lemon flower, and ripe apple. On the palate it is dry and elegant with a pleasant acidity and nice aromatic persistence. The Noblesse Brut Metodo Classico is a sparkling wine that can be served throughout a meal, especially with delicate fried fish and seafood recipes.

An engaging display of dusty dried flowers, incense and musky peach reaches up from the 2017 Brut Spumante Carricante Noblesse. It’s silky in feel, with bright acids and a twist of sour citrus that nicely balances its soothing wave of sweet pit fruits and spice. There’s notable length here, as this finishes energetic with salty minerals and inner florals. It’s a testament to Carricante’s ability to excel in a sparkling style. Well done. The Noblesse is produced using Metodo Classico. It spent 24 months refining on the lees and was disgorged on May 21, 2020.
