Vineyard Notes: This is the second vintage of this single vineyard Régnié cuvée for Antoine Sunier. The grapes are sourced from a 55-year-old Gamay parcel called Montmerond. The lieu-dit is certified organic and has a very specific terroir of rocks such as quartz, blue volcanic stone, and granite. Antoine Sunier works with 1.20 hectares.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are vinified with indigenous yeast and no additives. Whole cluster carbonic maceration takes place for 10-15 days, followed by horizontal pressing and manual racking. The wine ages on fine lees in 90% old Burgundy oak barrels (8 yrs old and older) and 10% cement epoxy tanks for about 10 months with a SO2 addition between 10 and 20mg/L. The wine is not filtered or fined.

A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe, spice-accented red berries and cherry liqueur, smoky minerals and a hint of incense. Energetic, mineral-laced blueberry and bitter cherry flavors show very good depth and take on a hint of candied licorice with air. Smooth, harmonious tannins add framework to the impressively long, floral-tinged finish, which leaves behind a sweet touch of red fruit preserves.
