Never shy, yet always delicious, this year's La Clarine Farm Petit Manseng release is no exception. With thick skins, large seeds and little juice, this wine is always super concentrated, with a distinctive skin contact vibe (although the wine sees no skin contact!).
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were picked on September 4, 2019, direct whole-cluster pressed, and fermented in Flextank. The wine underwent a 12-day primary fermentation, but because of the low pH (3.05), didn't finish malolactic fermentation until late Spring of 2020. The wine was bottled in late July 2020 after resting on its lees.
Tasting Notes: The wine has a golden, green color with aromas of herbs, flowers, minerals and wet stone. Very lifted flavors on the palate – lemon rind and green apple – very focused. It finishes with a slightly briny, very textural vibe, like walking down a steep slope of crushed slate at the tail end of a great hike. In a word – intense. Drink with hard cheeses, fatty charcuterie, and any South Asian cuisine.
