Terroir Notes: The estate is located at 1,310 feet elevation on the west side of Chianti, facing the sea. The breeze from the sea makes the estate quite windy and cools it during the summer heat. Therefore, the Chianti Classico from Isole e Olena seems to always maintain a freshness even in the hottest years. They clay and rocky soil also retains water well, which helps the vines can combat the hot Chianti summers.

Vinification Notes: Grapes are manually harvested. The must ferments in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with approximately 12 days maceration. During fermentation, delestage and pumping over takes place twice a day. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked into 225-liter barrels, 4,000-liter casks, and 2,700-liter casks where it matures for about a year. It is then bottled and released after 3-4 month.

91 Points (2017 Vintage) Vinous 9/18/2020
"The 2017 Chianti Classico is fabulous. Bright, punchy and so full of character, the 2017 is absolutely delicious. Sweet berry, cedar, tobacco, rose petal and subtle earthy notes all grace the 2017, an exquisite wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. More than anything, I am so impressed with the wine's energy."

The 2018 Chianti Classico is classy, understated and polished to the core. Attractive floral and savory accents weave through a core of red Sangiovese fruit in a mid-weight, gracious Chianti Classico that impresses with its poise and balance. The Isole Chianti Classico is always a wine of restraint. That is especially the case in 2018. Crushed flowers, herbs, mint and bright red berry fruit linger.
