Vineyard Notes: Aragonez (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet fruit are harvested by hand from the sustainability farmed Fonte Santa, João Paulo, and Vale do Cepo vineyards in the towns of Bencatel, Vimieiro and Redondo in Alentejo. Alentejo sees 3,000 hours of annual sunshine and 600mm of annual rainfall, less than 15% of which falls during the growing season.

Winemaking Notes: The three varieties ferment separately for 14 days on the skins and are then blended for aging. Gentle gravity fed movement throughout the winery maintains integrity of aromatics and structure. The wine ages in 50% stainless steel and 50% conditioned French oak barrels for 10 months.

Tasting Notes: Floral and fruit aromatics of violets and black raspberries show on the nose, with lilting notes of toast and spice. The palate is lush and ripe, with abundant fresh black currants and blackberries. The midpalate shows minerality and a touch of smoke. Fita da Fitapreta finishes with considerable length.

Pairing Notes: This is a versatile wine with lush primary fruit that pairs well with coffee crusted prime rib with roast fingerling potatoes, blue cheeses like Cambozola and Roquefort, and charcuterie.
