Winemaking Notes: The fruit for this wine comes from a selection of Chateau Sainte-Marie's best vineyards. Grapes undergo maceration and fermentation over 3-5 weeks in stainless steel tanks, for a soft extraction of the tannins. The Bordeaux Rouge is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes: In the glass, this wine has a bright, black cherry color. The soils of the Entre-Deux-Mers give this wine its character, its tannins and its aromas of pleasantly ripe red fruits. Aging potential of 2 to 5 years.
2018 Vintage Notes by Antonio Galloni for Vinous 3/30/2021: "Two years ago I wrote '…the best 2018s are positively stunning. I don’t see the consistency of 2016, for example, but 2018 offers a tremendous amount of choice for the consumer, from everyday gems to the rarest of collectibles.' That’s exactly how I feel today. It’s a vintage with outstanding wines at all levels. There are a handful of epic wines and an ocean of phenomenal values, but not quite the consistency of a truly legendary vintage."
