About Prunelart: Prunelart (or Prunelard) is the parent grape of Cot (Malbec). Largely forgotten in the post-phylloxera era, there are only a couple dozen hectares of Prunelart left in France. Dark skinned, small and compact, Prunelart grapes make for deeply colored and full-bodied wines with notes of purple fruit and spice.
Winemaking Notes: Fruit is harvested by hand. A 15 day fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged in tank and is bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Tasting Notes: Notes of black and blue fruit on the nose and palate. The Prunelart's tannins balance nicely with the wine's texture and acid. This is a great bistro wine!
