About the Name: This is a fun little word game. There is a form of slang in French called Verlan in French. The idea is you switch the letters around in a word to slightly change it’s meaning. For example, the word for “woman” is “femme”, but the Verlan form is “meuf,” which sort of means chick. There are lots of versions of this: Joint - Ouinj, Fou (crazy) - Ouf (way crazy!). Anyway, this one is Merlot - Lomer.
Grape Source: The Right Bank has quite a lot of inexpensive vineyard land. Les Tètes was offered organic certified Merlot from a producer that was having a hard time selling his domaine bottles. Les Tètes said yes to the proposal, managed the harvest, and did the vinification in the winery where the grapes are grown.
Vintage Notes: "The best 2016s are powerful, richly layered, vibrant and stunningly beautiful, not to mention incredibly delicious and alluring. For so many wines and estates, 2016 is an epic vintage." - Vinous 1/18/2019
"First and foremost, 2016 is a truly great vintage for Bordeaux, and unquestionably in the same category as 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010, and 2015. While the wines have their own unique style, if pure, classic Bordeaux is your thing, 2016 will most likely check in near the top of this list...Also, quality in 2016 is incredibly consistent across the entire region, and the vintage is packed with values at every price point." - Jeb Dunnuck 2/28/2019
