Terroir Notes: Montrose Prestige Rosé is a plot selection from the the Coste family's greatest terroirs. Old vine Grenache and Rolle (Vermentino) are planted on pebbly siliceous-clay terraces. The Syrah is selected from a dark volcanic hillside.
Winemaking Notes: This rosé is made by the saignée method. After harvesting, the Grenache and Rolle are destemmed and blended in stainless steel vats. They macerate for a few hours to extract their finest flavors. The addition of the Rolle allows for longer skin contact while still maintaining a light colored rosé. The bled juice is then fermented at a moderate temperature to preserve the terroir’s expression. It is aged on the lees to enhance elegance. A small part of the blend (white grapes) is vinified and aged in oak barrels. At the end of aging, a touch of Syrah is added to the blend to improve balance and complexity.
Tasting Notes: The Montrose Prestige Rosé is a nice pale color. The nose is complex and shows ripe citrus fruits, mandarin orange, and spices. The palate is full yet delicate with an elegant finish. Enjoy this wine with grilled red mullets, scallop, guinea fowl or simply on its own.
