Winemaker Notes: "We’ve been experimenting with small lots from various Syrah vineyards in our area, exploring the varied terroirs of El Dorado County. Over the last couple of years, we have produced an interesting assortment of Syrah wines from 2015 and 2016. The idea struck us that a compilation of these wines and vineyards would give an intriguing look at our home county. After some fun blending, we’ve put together a single wine that we feel is an accurate overall impression of El Dorado Syrah."
Tasting Notes: This non-vintage bottling embodies Syrahs from both of the two main soils types in El Dorado: granite and volcanic. The blend shows aromas of black cherry, vanilla, some smoke and meat. There is bold, smoky, savory fruit in the mouth. Tannins show on the finish accompanied by pleasant acidity and length. The flavors and textures linger a bit. It’s mesmerizing. This is most certainly a bit of delicious mountain grown Syrah. Pair it with more robust stews and meat dishes, or boldly flavored vegetarian meals.
Winemaking Notes: The El Dorado Syrah was whole cluster fermented and aged in a variety of vessels. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfites.
