The terrain is complex with a prevalence of layers. The blue marl soil is at a depth from 1 to 3 meters. Cascina delle Rose observes the “214/1” disposition of Community European for sustainable agriculture: mechanic weeding, and maximum limitation of products based on copper and sulfur mine (monitoring Inspectorate Agricultural) low environmental impact. They are on the way for the organic certification.
Winemaking Notes: Harvest is done by hand. Grapes are softly pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. The skins stay in contact with the must for about 20-22 days. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation. The wine matures in large Slavonian oak barrels (10-20 hectoliters) for approximately 16 months. No filtration or clarification is done. Total sulfites (free and added) equal 41 mg/l.
Tasting Notes: This Barbera d'Alba exhibits freshness on the nose. Enjoy hints of cherry, blackberry, wild raspberry and cassis. There is impressive finesse and an elegant acid structure. This wine is dynamic, slightly spicy, and persistent. It matches well with red meat, medium seasoned cheeses and fish.
