This is one of the rare rosé wines of the Mosel. The Mosel, one of the world's coolest-climate wine growing regions, is about finesse, about minerality, about delicacy and about intensity. Sounds like the perfect recipe for profound rosé? It is!
Does it make sense to use some of the greatest, most labor-intensive vineyards in the world to make a rosé? In financial terms, absolutely not. It's ridiculous, which is probably what Stein cherishes most about the whole exercise. That and the fact that the wine is good.

"This rosé of Pinot Noir (incorporating smidgeons of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) is quite enjoyable, and happily free of any drying or musty cask influence. Fresh sour cherry and red raspberry offer an invigoratingly tart, pit- and seed-inflected palate presence, while hints of boxwood and wet stone accent a brightly juicy finish. Only a small share of this wine resulted from saignée, and only a small share went through malolactic transformation."
