Tasting Notes: Finke's Widow showcases a fresh and youthful wine with a crisp, dry expression on the palate and notes of pineapple, peach, and floral aromas. Finke’s has the celebratory feel of French champagne, without the special occasion reputation. In other words, celebrate often. Pair it with your favorite party dishes: aged meats, cheeses, ceviche and shellfish.
About the Name: Finke’s Widow is a reference to the rebellious past of Alois Finke. Alois Finke was a 19th century California sparkling winemaker whose brand was named A. Finke’s Widow. (Fun fact: A. Finke’s Widow plays off the iconic champagne brand Veuve Clicquot; Veuve means “widow” in French.) A. Finke’s Widow was sued for labeling its product as ‘California Premium Champagne’ as champagne is a term reserved only for wine grown and produced in the French region of Champagne.
