“What is there to say about Monte Rosso that has not already been said. Wines of recognition have come from the vineyard for over a century, and the vineyard signature can be seen on any variety that is grown on the site. This is mountain Zinfandel at its finest, perfumed and elegant but carries the promise of a long-life due to the line of fine tannin that runs through its core. A perennial favorite, and a wine that I know I will be enjoying long into my lifetime.” - Morgan

  • The Wine Spectator
    Rating: 94 (3/22/2017)

A wine of richness and torque, offering expressive blackberry, orange zest and tar aromas and complex flavors of black raspberry, toasty cinnamon and sage, with licorice accents. The tannins have weight but are ripe and polished. Drink now through 2025.

    Rating: 95 (3/1/2017)

A wine of real finesse and personality, the 2015 Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard is superb. Intense aromatics infused with iron, smoke, licorice and chalk open into a core of red-toned fruit. Sensual and silky in the glass, the 2015 is vivid and exceptionally beautiful from the very first taste. The Monte Rosso is one of the many highlights in this lineup.
  • The Wine Advocate
    Rating: 95+ (10/28/2016)

One of the great, iconic vineyards of Northern California is the Monte Rosso site owned by the Gallos. The 2015 Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard is amazing. Peterson was saying that it comes from a steep westward-facing vineyard planted mostly with Zinfandel, but also includes tiny quantities of Alicante Bouschet and Grand Noir. Dark, complex, powerful and muscular with briary blackberry and black raspberry fruit, savory roasted herbs, steak tartare, pepper and forest floor, this is a wine of great intensity, richness and length. This is a beauty to drink over the next 10-15+ years.
