The Grande Cuvée Rouge has its roots in the property’s loveliest land, where water supply is the most reliable. The land parcels benefit from the best weather conditions, and the soils both drain well and are sufficiently deep to ensure water reserves protect the vines from summer drought. This results in homogeneous maturity with the grapes developing an excellent balance between the quality of the tannins, acidity and aromas.

Vineyard notes: The vines grow on parcels with brown soil formed from limestone scree dating from the Cretaceous Period. Hill slope varies between 10 degrees to 30 degrees. The domaine employs lutte raisonnée where no chemical additives are used in the vineyards, unless there is a threat of losing an entire vintage.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are destemmed and crushed. The wine spends 6 months in vats before initial blending and then 12 months in 225-liter and 400-liter oak casks.

Black raspberry, toasted spice, leather and dried herbs all emerge from the 2014 Pic St Loup Grande Cuvée, which is 60% Syrah, 35% Mourvèdre and 5% Grenache. It's rich, mouthfilling and nicely textured on the palate, with an open-knit, ready-to-go style. It should keep for 4-5 years.
