Vineyard Notes: In the province of Teramo the estate dominates the fertile valley of the Vibrata, lying at 240 meters above sea level. The soil is calcareous and stony, which is excellent for drainage. The moderating breezes from the sea 15 kilometers away allow for perfect ripening. Cornacchia currently owns 32 hectares, and the vines are 20 to 40 years old. The vineyards are certified organic.
Winemaking Notes: The Pecorino macerates on the skins in horizontal tanks for 10 hours. Soft pressing is followed by static decanting. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for 6 months in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: The Barone Cornacchia Pecorino is fresh and delightful with notes of peach, white flowers and Pear William. It is inviting and lush on the palate with white peach, melons and citrus. The finish is long with great minerality and acidity. Pair this Pecorino wine with seafood dishes, pork dishes, risottos with scampi, spaghetti with clams, sole in white wine and fresh cheeses such as goat cheese.
90pts (2016 Vintage) Vinous 2017
"Brown sugar, ripe pear, botanical herbs and sweet spices on the ripe nose. Then broad, ample and fleshy, with a hint of sweetness to the orchard fruit and herbal flavors. Large scaled but smooth on the long, slightly lemony finish. Another very good white wine from Barone Cornacchia in 2016."
