Brewer-Clifton: Wines of the Vineyard |
Brewer-Clifton 2009 Chardonnay, 3-D Vineyard Their approach is simple; they pay careful attention to signals from the vines and nature and respond to those signals with individually prescribed techniques. Each vineyard has its own unique requirements, and they manage each according to their inimitable needs rather than a macro approach to farming. They are working to achieve a natural balance between the site, the vines, the aspect and the microclimates in each vineyard, using sustainable and/or organic farming methods whenever possible. The Brewer - Clifton vineyard team exclusively farms and manages four vineyards, from which they receive 100% of the fruit: 3-D, Gnesa, Mount Carmel and Machado. For those vineyards from which they source fruit, but do not control the farming itself, they work closely with the owners and their vineyard crews to overlay their farming philosophy to the blocks designated for Brewer - Clifton in their vineyard. They want to produce fruit that will allow the pedigree of place to shine forth in each wine. This means paying by the acre rather than by the ton so that multiple passes can be made throughout the year to achieve their goals without economic concerns to the grower. This win-win solution ensures that Brewer - Clifton receives stunning fruit from each of their designated vineyards. |
